Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 August 2026

Dossier collects nothing. No account, no server, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs. Nothing you enter leaves your device.

That's the whole policy in one line. The rest of this page explains what that means specifically, because "we value your privacy" is what every app says right before listing the fourteen companies it sells your data to.

What stays on your device

All of it:

This is written to a single file inside the app's private storage on your iPhone. It is never transmitted anywhere. We have no way to read it, and no copy of it exists outside your device.

No account, ever

Dossier has no sign-up, no login, no email capture and no password. We do not know who you are and cannot find out.

Comparison codes

Your profile is encoded into a short code that you can send to someone else. That encoding happens entirely on your device, and the code travels through whatever app you choose to send it with — Messages, WhatsApp, Instagram, anything. It does not pass through us, because there is no "us" for it to pass through. No server is involved at any point.

A code contains your trait scores and the first name you entered, if any. Send it only to people you're happy sharing that with.

Purchases

Dossier Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment; we never see your name, card details, address, or Apple Account. The app asks iOS a single question — whether this device has the purchase — and gets back yes or no.

Apple's handling of that transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily read, notifications are scheduled locally by your iPhone. There is no push server and no notification token is sent anywhere.

Children

Dossier is rated 12+ and is not directed at children under 13. Since the app collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children either.

Deleting your data

Delete the app. Everything goes with it, immediately and permanently. There is nothing to request, no form to fill in, and no copy left behind. Your purchase stays attached to your Apple Account, so reinstalling and tapping Restore unlocks the app again.

Changes to this policy

If Dossier ever starts collecting anything, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be described plainly rather than buried.
